I got Nokia E61i. I wanted a qwerty keyboard but didn't want to pay for blackberry service. so my options were limited. I debated between SE P1i or E61i but ended up w E61i for UMTS, Egde, Wifi connectivity.

I'm looking to get that LG Viewty:

Helio Ocean..i wish my contract is over so i can get this guy. Has a 3g network already. Full internet. Pretty much comparable to the iphone, but no touch screen. Got a built in flash light for spelunking and going places with this phone.

Sony Eircsson is a good phone. But menu system is shite. Motorola is the worst UI ever. Nokia wins on this stage hands down. I use Sony but miss the simplicity of the Nokia. Might have to go old skool and get me a 'vintage' blockia and start a new trend. They are tanks.

iPhone all the way. I've gone through so many phones and the iPhone does everything I need except for the no mms thing (that does suck but apple will figure it out soon...I hope).

go for Sony Ericsson and run as you can from Nokia.
That is my advice.

iPhone. I really love this thing!
I am not an Apple guy, never owned an iPod or Mac, so it was a leap of faith.
Gotta say, once of the best tech purchases ever. I use it for presenting our animations, just amazing quality and people are really wowed by it (the combo of animation on a phone that you can see). Soooo much nicer than lugging a laptop everywhere!

Cheers Hench, that's good advice... always helps to hear from someone who has actually used what your asking about.
I'll have a sniff around and see what offers are about...
Thanks for taking the time out to write so much :)

Re: Raniater
I'd definitely recommend the k850i. As I said the buttons are small but this is the whole point, because they are spaced so far apart it really works well, I have pretty much average size hands for a man and find using the buttons for texting super easy.
The only button that is slightly small and sometimes difficult to press is the tiny camera on/off button next to the big 'take picture' button on the side, I use my nail.
This button is deliberately small and hard to press though because it overrides the keypad lock, so for instance if you see something amazing you want to quickly take a snap of, you can press this button and instantly go into cam mode. And you can always access the camera through the menu or make it a shortcut.

I've got a sony ericcsson w850i, and it's great for me apart from a few annoying things:
-Unlocking the phone can be done by hitting the two more buttons (easy to do in your pocket)
-Accidentally turning on the mp3 player mode when somewhere quiet, or when trying to do something else (button placement)

I'm quite liking the look of the K850i... seems ok. Read a few reviews and the general consensus is that the camera is awesome, the buttons are small and the 'soft keys' on the top are fiddly/unreliable...
Any thoughts on that Hench?
Ps. I've got quite small (read: I'm not a boxer) size hands for a guy, not sure small buttons will be a problem?
- I have enormous spades for hands and play that keypad like a fiddlekelpie
