I'm looking for some advice on compact cameras, i've been a DSLR (nikon) user for a couple of years and have become heavily into photography from just being quite interested. I'd say i'm a very enthusiastic amateur.
i'm looking for a compact that i can carry around all the time, so it has to be light and well built. I was wondering whether anyone here has experience using any compacts that really stood out in terms of image quality.
i know the sigma DP1 is out now, but its pricey. at the other end of the scale the ricoh R series are decent with good zoom ranges.
i fear that any compact i use frequently will not be as enjoyable to use as an SLR, so im still weighing up the idea of carrying around a compact against getting a good case to hold just my D80 with small zoom to make it easier to carry that around - cheaper too.any suggestions and advice are appreciated
cheers

I personally like the Casio Exilim series for the compacts. Check Cnet's camera reviews too to get an idea of whats what.
