Clients,
I have to make a 20 second ad. tomorrow for a well known newspaper, I have recieved an audio track for it, I have still to recieve a brief and any material needed to create the ad.!!!! They have one day to make the ad.
Welcome to my world. It's times like this that I just think fuck it, so I have decided to not chase the client and let them miss the deadline which could cost thousands of pounds in air time. I'll keep you posted about my progress tomorrow.

better tell them when they give you the brief that you will be charging overtime as you'll have to work through the night. cos you WILL have to work through the night.

other day we were still waiting on content for a site which was to go live that night, with an announcement on the radio at midnight. I had to stay in till 12:10 to get it done. honestly, sometimes I wonder why we bother.
still, it was kind of fun getting it in on time

While I have been waiting I have just been animating an audio waveform for a client, he has just 'popped in to see how things are going' and he said the bit on the right is different to the bit on the left is there a reason for that?.. so I paused and said 'well there is no reason it is different because it is different would you like me to change it'. His question really threw me for a second I just didn't know how to answer him.

I feel your frustration. Im working on a magazine which was to go to print last wednesday. I told the client that their deadline was silly when we started, but they reassured me that they would have all the content etc. Now, lo and behold, still awaiting content and looks like monday is my deadline, though even that is pushing it.
Its the same every issue of this magazine, I talk to the client, they give me a deadline, I say you're going to need more time but they don't listen and I end up working late to make up for it.

Four pm 10% of the material has arrived. Still no proper brief.

That's very shit for you to have to deal with Chossy, do you have a contingency for this type of thing? Or is it down the pub till Monday?

You have to set a precedent my friend. Clients are only people too... not perfect. They need to be educated on your process. So set out your ground rules from the start, explain it to your 'clients' and if all shit breaks loose at least from your end you are not floating in space. Set the precedent that 'you' are organised and in return expect that too.
