So I'm thinking of getting a desk, and I had a little fun reminiscing over some of my favorites in the past (note: I do not necessarily have the money to afford any of these)...

- That's my current set up, but with a couple of drafting boards thrown on top. Good stuff.ismith

speaking of furniture, I got my sofa today... a fraudulent/bankrupt company and 7 months later!
I'm gonna use this dining table as a "desk" (it should be here next week, pretty good price too) http://www.cb2.com/family.aspx?c… . Yea, I don't know if I like the idea of a desk in a home... since I spend all day at work with one.

$2,500 for a mediocre desk is quite retarded imo

ismith- no, i gave the company (an online vendor) the money back in June, and a few weeks later they declared bankruptcy. I thought I was out of luck, but I filed a claim with my bank anyway, and waited for months for the resolution. To my surprise, I got 100% of my money back. I just got it from somewhere else. http://www.stlloftstyle.com/inde…

I purchased this IKEA desk and legs for about $150- a few years and used the $2,000 that I saved for a new Mac Powerbook.

Glad it had a good ending, I like that sofa too. My current sofa is a mattress on plywood and a futon that was abandoned in the dorm I used to sleep in. I should consider an upgrade....

if you're spending 2k on a desk you have issues - or way too much money to still be working.

Good furniture is expensive and for a good reason. Quality built furniture does not depreciate in value, performs better, and is pleasing to use.
It's similar to how you can get a logo for $50.00 if you really wanted to.
- my $100 ikea desk holds up my computer and "performs" just fine. i'll take the savings and apply it elsewhere, thanks :p********
- Too each his own. Unfold a malemine table and call it a dining room table. It will 'perform' there, too.melq

These desks look so nice, but where do all my cables go?
I've got a wireless mouse and keyboard, but I've got wires to my Mbox, wires from that to my speakers, and power supply cords to each speaker. Plus a cable to my extra hard drive, and a power supply to that. And a USB cable to my Midi keyboard.
I've got more cable than AT&T!
- i use those big cable wrap things. buy em at the hardware store, or fry's.********
