Here is my version of the site prior to redesign:
I just visited the link recently, and now it looks like this:
http://www.spotfreeinc.net/I see elements of my CSS has been used in their design not to mention other things.
Should I say tough luck here or what?
They didn't even tell me they were going to use another company. and my version of the site has been up for at least 3 years.

I dont understand? Did they pay you to design their site? If so, what is the problem?
- yea they paid me. so fucking what********
- so what? they paid you. That means they own it. You may own the source files, but they own the site.threadpost

the code from the product section and the other pages are all incorporated into the new design. the footer... the yellow bar is now green... its not just the side bar.
- Well, they paid you didn't they? So they own the code. What do you want from them?ETM

WHAT'S WITH ALL THE CAPS ON THEIR SITE?

It's called a redesign.

yikes.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but it sounds like 1) they hired you to design their site which they used for a least 3 years. 2) they recently redesigned their site but someone else did the design and markup for it this time.
They are perfectly within their rights to keep parts of what you did and change it up as they see fit. What am I not understanding here?

Is this another joke thread?

they can do whatever they want with that site.

geralddean, did the contract state that the code was developed by u and could not be re-used?
Maybe they wanted to re-skin the site and wanted to try a new designer. Or the owners kid is now learning how to do web design and he's letting him have a stab at it.... with clients u never know.

If they paid you for their previous site surely they can keep whatever elements of it they like in a redesign? Or am I too missing something?

No offense, but if you're banking on that site being in your portfolio, you're in deeper trouble than you think.

You have come over to the more enlightening side, my friend. All will make sense now.
