where exactly is that saved? not sure which one. does it just restore to defaults?
- horton0
i'm just dealing this AM with something similar... spacebar to navigate and my shift key to constrain have shit the bed.
a restart fixed it temporarily but problem just returned so i'm assuming its this corrupted pref issue.
anyone know whats causing this?
and before i delete my prefs, what info will i lose? does this trash any of my user defined setting like custom actions, keyboard shortcuts, etc.. ?
- no, just resets the palettes, actions and shortcuts are differentGreedoLives

home > library > preferences > com.adobe.illustrator.plist
yes it restores the preferences to defaults. had to do this for a issue with the save for web. might work for you too

Seems to be working over here.
Silly question...but you have the align to artboard button turned off in the align palette right?
- MLP0
yeah... i turned that off. but when its off, sometimes it still aligns to the artboard then, for example, when distributing space among 10 horizontal strokes, it'll leave one at the top of the original selection and center align the rest at the bottom of the art board. after that, it won't let you select anything you just 'aligned' as if they were locked. also, when right or left aligning these 10 strokes, it aligns them to the very edge of the entire document instead of just the furthest stroke.

for the record here's a few more possible bugs/confilcts to troubleshoot the spacebar and shift issues:
- update all Microsoft software
- update all Quicken products
- turn off shortcuts in Spotlight prefs
- force quit "last.fm helper" in your Activity Monitor

if you're on a mac try deleting the preferences file.
usually fixes those shitty bugs
- MLP0
cool. thanks. for some reason its working again. if it comes up again i'll trash the file.

maybe you had something grouped/compound path/clipping mask or somesuch? sometimes it just randomly bugs up, there's always the old command + q and restart.
