Funny, that looks a lot like drawing in Basic back in the days of Mr. Sinclair.

or scriptographer.. works directly in illustrator

this is all pretty close to the scriptographer commands.. wich I prefer as it is integrated into Illustrator..

metapost is similar, creates eps and is easier to program btw
comes with most tex distributions

er.. obviously PostScripts generate artwork in Illustrator - I just hadn't thought of it being useful for generating natty math forms and such.

Menos mentioned something I wasn't aware of - the ability to write PostScripts which can generate artwork in Illustrator.
Does anyone here have links to guides or how-tos - or perhaps just a little advice on where to begin?

It has a couple of interesting examples, but one thing I'm really confused with is how to extract the vector data from an EPS to use as an object in PostScript. I've had a dig around a test EPS to see what's there - but all I can see are large amounts of otherwise redundant file data (patterns, colour values, etc).
