the grammy's were actually an enjoyable show... i normally dont watch these shows, or care about most of these artists, and was actually entertained. the theme of putting different artist together to rework some of the songs was interesting and made it seem like you were really seeing something special.
discuss... anyone else watch?

what are we talking about?

From wwtdd.com. And I couldn't agree more.
"in no way does [The Grammy's] reflect what's going on in music. They do this every year. Best rap artist will be like Lupe Fiasco, Jedi Mind Tricks, Young Jeezy and Will Smith. And everyone who wasn't in "Wild Wild West" shouldn't even bother to show up. Granted, if you're looking for 15 songs about basketball and staying in school, there's no one more qualified than Will Smith, but banging that shit in your Impala will just get you shot."

i could tear it up all day long, but i was morbidly curious to see what amy winehouse would do. and of course that was near the damn end. but some of the collaborations were interesting.
i will say this, kanye west is a twat. im sorry his mom is dead and all but he is a cocky piece of shit, and they let him get away with it. it was cool seeing herbie hancock win, all i could think of the whole time was the line in tommy boy.

i noticed that tom waits and tool were both nominated which i thought was funny seeing as both of their albums came out in 2006. i knew that neither would be in attendance. in fact i looked up tool on myspace and on their offical page. there wasnt even a mention of a nomination, haha. i was like haha, not really a shock. they dont care.
- Tom Waits should be nominated at every Grammy ceremony just on principle...TheBlueOne
- +1 completely agreed********

My 56 year old boss just came in today and said "I watched the grammy's last night. I'm glad Herbie Hancock won. Who is this Amy Winestein person? Very skinny, lots of tattoos. What's the appeal? And those rappers sure love their mommas."
Even though I didn't watch it I think I'd probably concur, except I know who Amy Winehouse is.
- Hancock was a guest quizzer on "Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me" the other week. Still so smooth and badass.harlequino
- I agree on his badassedness, but I dodn't even know the fucker was still alive...TheBlueOne
- ..and he's relevant enough in 2008 to be winning grammies? What is he, Jethro Tull?TheBlueOne

- I don't think I listen to anything of his after 1970. I love his concept of "new standards" but I still don't listen to it.harlequino

I stopped watching a few years back. I still watch segments now and then, for the stupidity/entertainment of it all, but, as a whole, it sucks.
