I have to fire a Jnr Designer today here at my company. What would be a good way of doing it?

The worst way of doing it, is lying about the reason why.
Just give it straight to the person and you both will feel better at the end of the day.

Its mainly financial reasons, I shouldn't really of taken him on. I don't want to tell him its for financial reasons though. Much rather put the blame on his quality of work.

That's a cop out. It's either financial reasons, he does bad work, or a combo of both. Have some respect, and don't just make shit up. Be honest. If it's financial - tell him. If it's because he does bad work - tell him why you think he does and what he can do to improve.
But don't just look for a quick and easy way out. If you fucked up and hired someone you couldn't afford then that is a problem you need to rise to and take care of properly.
