I have just received a bill from them saying they want £209.39 for a pair of trainers my friend has sent me from Hong Kong.
They were insured for £100 incase they got lost...
How the fuck can they justify that. I want my shoes back.
Anyone shed any light

Yes, you're bringing valuable goods into the country. The Queen wants some of your action. She's taxin' you. Her footsoldiers are rinsing you nice.

I reckon if you can talk to someone you might be able to get that reduced. It does seem excessive... more than the trainers might actually be worth (as opposed to what they actually cost).
Its never easy reasoning witht he cylons of HMC&R, they have an immutable rule of 'no compassion' and for good reason most of the time, but I'm sure you can get a reduction as long as you pay something.

Dutch customs tried to ding me for about €1500 when I recently shipped over 5 boxes of vinyl... I spent 4 hours at the airport going back and forth between customs and the shipping company trying to explain they weren't new or for resale, but they were part of my personal collection... It got sorted but fuck me it was a pain...

Are you sure it was the insurance they based it on? Even customs cant charge 200% import tax, surely. Can they?

Apparently it is a new thing since Christmas anything over £18 gets taxed to fuck. I have asked HM R&C to send me there calculations

aye see, what would be the point of fixing our economy and pumping prices for everything up so people can think their higher average wages mean something significant if you can go and get things for a realistic price elsewhere?
pfft, anybody'd think we were living in a global economy or something

Far left for me too.
Man it has been such an ordeal. THey sold her the worng size I emailed New Balance HK who finally agreed that I could change them (Past the 30 return policy because they were a crimbo pressie) and now this.
THey were bought from APU (Granville street??)
Why not sneaker street?
