Hi all,
I have a mate who does commissioned illustrations for companies such as Rolling Stone, NME etc. Anyway, he has a lot of interest in these and his personal work and would like to sell em' online.
Just wondering if there is an online service that would print and distribute uploaded artwork, one at a time, i.e. as each order comes in.
I have heard of cafepress, any alternatives or is this the best out there?
Thanks

cheers, anymore? I did consider setting up an ecommerce site for him, but then there is the problem of printing the things.

Anything that I can API into his existing site?

bad idea.
unless he doesn't care about checking out the prints (making sure the color seperation is accurate as hell - assuming he isn't going to try to sell large format epsons - which i do not think an artist should do!) and etc.
that is super crazy to me. and i am about to go to press with a new line of prints in 2 weeks and i will be at the printers every few hours.

agree with antigirl.. if he values his name as an artist he should be involved first hand with the printers. could go bad in so many ways.

I agree. But also Think the liability is entirely engrossing. And as a hobby it maybe worth it but not as a fulltime job. So my suggestion if he's not looking to make a large consumer profit from it try something like imagekind.com or redbubble I think there are others and I'd actually like to see what others say... before I spout any further. But the first two stores online were crap... no offense to them but.. their not nearly as respected.
