i need some suggestions to take someone on a date in NYC? I'm going through yelp listings and will probably ask her for some places, too. I just wanted to get additional from here. She likes any kind of food except for seafood and like live music, especially indie and irish music. thanks.

If you want to go to bars that impress I know of a few...
Angels Share
Address is 8 Stuyvesant St. (between 11 and 12th) on 3rd ave.
Its tucked away inside a restaurant called Gyu-Ya.
Very mellow and low-key, amazing drinks, a little pricey.PDT
Located inside Crif Dogs
8th st between 1st ave and ave a
go into the phone booth dial 1 and you will get the hostess who will let you inside.
Once again, pricey, but a fun just for the novelty of it all.Jadis
42 rivington st btwn forsyth and eldridge
if wine is more your thing, this is a great little place to go
serve food as wellFor indie music there is a place in the LES called Cake Shop

here's a list a friend put together for me when i was there the week before last:
-cafe gray
-hearth
-naka naka (no reservations)
-goblin market
-alias
-queen's hideaway
-little gianti'm told that, with the exception of cafe gray which is fairly expensive, the other places will run you around $80 per person for the meal (give or take).
i've also gone to the stanton social on the lower east side and enjoyed the meal. the type of place where you each order two or three items and share, which i think works well for dates.

if you like white wine, i would recommend the Reboreda Blanco - 22/btl
or the Muscadet sur Lie Hts de Noelles S.Batard 25/btl.im not such a fan of red wine, so no ideas there.
a good dessert wine they have is the Saint Jean de Minervois, Muscat - 18/btl

The MoMA. Free on Fridays after 6PM and has a nice cafe and or hit the restaurant on first floor afterwards. Then walk a couple blocks to Rockefeller Center and hit the observation deck.
