I'm trying to redo my resume in Illustrator/Acrobat and I was wondering if anyone wanted to showcase theirs or knew of good sites to get ideas for templates from. Much appreciated!

1. Don't do it in Illustrator.

2. Don't use a template.

So.... what should I use?

I assume you're not a designer? If that's the case, find a friend who has InDesign and ask them to help a brother (or sister) out.
You could use Quark if you must.

Good luck

Illustrator is fine... don't use Quark.
Illustrator doesn't have the greatest type engine, so I could see using something different if you're applying for something with detailed type setting.

I suppose Illy is fine if you aren't a designer. If you are, then you'll want the more robust typesetting tools of InDesign.

Alright, I see.

Illustrator is not a page layout program. It's a drawing program. InDesign is assimilating more features from Illustrator, but it doesn't seem to be happening the other way around.

I am just getting into design and am lucky enough to have cs3 master so I do have InDesign. Its open and being played with and it is so much nicer than illustrator. Thank you for the tip. I was looking for the grid.
I haven't used much more than photoshop and illustrator, but ID is a much more appropriate program for the task.
Cheers!

in other words I'm finding I can do more basic drawing in InDesign as they keep updating, but I don't see Illy becoming stronger for page layout.
At least it's better than designing a page in Photoshop.

If you do your resume in Illustrator, noone will hire you.
- that is, if you are looking for a design job, and you're foolish enough to tell them you used Illy.gramme
- who the hell would even ask what you designed your resume in? and would they give a shit if your book was slammin'? no.Soler
- Did I suggest that an interviewer might ask them? No. And if you use the wrong programs, yes it does reflect poorly on your knowledge of the software.gramme
- poorly on your knowledge of the software.gramme
- I suppose it depends on the job you're going for, if it's entry level then who cares.gramme
- you can make a resume look great in illustratorplay
- It's all about the job. If someone passes you for Illy, they're probably not too smartjfletcher

"Illustrator is fine... don't use Quark."
"You could use quark" - "Yeah, but then you can't print it."
what on earth are you retards on about, I mean I know quarl sucks and all that and its cool to say so but really, do you even actually know what you are talking about?
- Llyod0
just use illustrator
- gramme0
Personally I do know what I'm talking about, max_prophet, I work with these programs every day and have done for years. I'm just trying to help this person out here. I'm not sure why AndyRoss said you couldn't print it, any half-wit could produce a PDF or have someone w/ ID/Quark produce it for them.

And what's up with the crankiness? Go home and drink a beer already.
- Soler0
I think you're cranky gramme. Pretty snobbish too suggest that Illy is less professional than ID for a 1 pager. Not like it's a book. my 2 cents.
- max_prophet0
well look who's cranky, I wasn't talking to you anyhow gramme maybe you should reading a little better.
touchy huh
- guess I misread your post. My mistake. It seemed you were talking to several of us.gramme
