Hi,
I'm new to video compression. Can anyone tell me what is the ideal mpeg size for broadband?

there's a lot to that question. Most compression programs have various presets for different file types that are meant for broadband. There isn't a magic single setting though. depends on your specific needs/capabilities.

well it actually depends on your source footage...
if you want something close to ntsc tv resolution... (4:3) you might try 640x480.. staying somewhere around there will ensure you decent quality... the 'oldskool' multimedia resolution on most presets is 320x240... which is youtube quality i believe.... so go higher than that and try to go for a (16x9 ) ratio for a better experience.
