can anyone roughly summarize the "main" accents you can find in england? ive heard of Cockney... Mancunian... but have no idea what these really "sound" like specifically, or of any others..
so could you name the most prominent accents and possibly any famous actor/actresses with whom you might identify them with. im interested in that sorta shit.

There's all different kinds of Northern: Mancunian, Lancashire, Geordie, Yorkshire, Cheshire etc And normally you can break those down even deeper. Someone from Blackburn will have a slightly different dialect than somebody from Preston for instance. How far do you want to go with this thing?
- I guess you could also go with lower class, middle class and upper class.JerseyRaindog
- On Jersey it's a weird mix of Cornish, Australian and South African. Oh by Cri.JerseyRaindog

not far. i just want audio examples..if readily available. or just prominent actor/actresses who are distinguishable and accurately represent one of the more major accent variations.

I'd suggest you check out Norfolk (or "Nar-fuk"), not so much an accent as a whole new language of undistinguishable noises!
