"Finally - Group94 relaunches!
Kai, Heuserkampf Jan 10, 08"well, well done. so nice to see fun, casual, genuine brand reflected in design of ones' own materials. love the work, and the nav principal is really interesting.

Love it.

I think i liked their holding site better. Never been a fan of portfolios containing just direct links to the sites... i want to know if it is something i want to visit first.
- That was my first thought! It was so good they kept a link to itrafalski
- No, i would want the link, just would like a preview first too.skt
- I agree skt!goingpublic
- gregwashington0
I concur.
- skt0
Tell you what though, the CMS behind it is lovely.

I dig the dotgrid
- kreydle0
their CMS is killer- and you can change their site around using it. Awesome.
- is it not an SQLSever solution? seem to remember that...madirish
- So when it changes does it just change with shared objects?coalson
- for real, or in the demo you mean?madirish
- for realcoalson
- I mean i guess not but that would be intrestingcoalson
- it probably utilizes that, but moreso- makes direct calls to the db using dynamic AS.madirish
- Duh ... i did not look at the URLcoalson
- radar0
I really like how the site flips to reveal the CMS behind it - and the fact that you can tweak their site, even if only temporary
- designerror0
GIMME THAT FUCKING CMS!!1!!
- ldww0
I have always loved g94, but disappointed.
Portfolios that just link to sites... um... suck. This is terrible usability and make it a very aggravating experience if you want to check out all their work. Which is too bad because they have nice work.
The CMS is "ok". I guess it works for what they need it for.
- but if the sites are live, functional, and look/work EXACTLY as they were intended and designed, what is not to like?madirish
- ... not to like??madirish
- also, becuase i am interested- why do you say CMS is "ok"? do you know technical insights on it you can share, relative to other CMSs?madirish
- relative to other CMSs?madirish

They're the best even if the videocast page was a finished product to me.
*note to self: bitmap fonts are still ok in 2008
- mimeartist0
love the cms... although the graphics are a little dark imo
- Mimio0
It's really great but still incomplete.

I was quite dissapointed by this, expected more after such a long time. Not as good as many of their client sites.
What's so cool about the CMS? I mean I'm sure it *is* a good CMS, but the demo on here is a flash mock up and its not doing anything particularly mental, just controlling content, like every other CMS.
- obviously the way it flips round from the site is wicked, but that has precisely jack to do with the real worldkelpie
- but that is the very point- that is not a "flash mock up" it is the very UI of the CMS. it is 100% flash.madirish
- holy fucking hell. you have to be high man!?!madirish
- did you read the text, they say that on real projects it is a mix of flash html xml etc etc, that it is flash alone here for demo purposes with in a flash site.kelpie
- purposes within a flash site.
Why would I have to be high not to parrot the standard line from NT incidentally?kelpie - from NT incidentally?kelpie
- kelpie0
I'd like to point out for the benefit of the QBN stazi that I'm a big fan of Group94, their abilities, aesthetics and work, before I'm tarred and feathered.
- *throws tar, then feathers at kelpie!uncle_helv
- you buggerkelpie
- cramdesign0
Well, the fact that it is a CMS is, of course, not new... the point is the simplicity and the elegance. It does what it needs to do easily and in a way that is pleasant to use. Though the aesthetic is different, the thinking is similar to Apple's.
It would be nicer to see preview of the work before you click the link... I agree.
- ldww0
I don't think a flash CMS is a good idea. A CMS should be extensible easy to use, and easy to update. I can not imagine having to manage growth of a flash based cms. It's functionality is BARE BONES. There is a page, which has a title, text, links and images. Thats it. Shoot you can not even enlarge the images to see them full size in the portfolio section.

That is really nice of them to show the UI of the CMS even if it is just a mock up of the finished product. Really well put together, easy to use, and seamless.
Well fucking done, not to mention the rest of the site but I can hardly look at anything else playing around with this, haha!
I have a pretty indepth CMS built as well, but the UI here trumps that by about ... everything. Which according to the comments above may also be why I'm particularly interested in this part of their new launch as opposed to others.
- mimeartist0
The CMS from a while back was impressive where you logged in and could move stuff around... of course very specific to each job.
- Leigh0
Tight.

Better than anything I've ever done or will ever do... I wish I was them.
*sigh
