Just zip it and call it something else, like that time I tried to download a porno and ended up getting spiderman 3 instead I wanted 'chicks on chicks 2, no mans land' ended up seeing toby maguire!!! still manages to grind one out though :D.

Aren't the RIAA and MPAA filing civil suits? To me that says something... there isn't enough evidence in any of these cases for the law to get involved so they are forced to do it themselves. They can't prove shit and filtering isn't going to work any better. Goodbye Internet? Goodbye dinosaurs.

I don't think they realize the full ramifications of doing something like this, and the sheer implausibility of it.
Two quick obvious points:
01. If any ISP believes that they are going to keep their customers when they knowingly monitor what they do, they are full of themselves and foolish to think that. Remember in the late 90's when there were so many local ISPs you didn't know what to do? Well this will just open that door back up for people once those same entrepreneurs got in and got out last time.
02. People will find ways around it. They always do. It's been proven time and time again that no matter what anyone does in regards to the computer world to make something "hack-proof" or whatever ... there is always someone out there spending day and nite to prove them wrong and then open up the floodgates some other way.
This comes on the heels (probably hand-in-hand) of NBC being a major reason as to why the current Writer's Strike is happening. I know they would like to think that they are so steeped in popular culture and also bankrolled in it - that they can actually do things like this without any backlash, but who the fuck are they, or anyone else, kidding?

I'm not sure of legal implications, but if the huge ISP's are going to be traffic cops wouldnt that just open the door for startup ISP's that promise not to do so? I would switch in a heartbeat.
