Usually we get Sailor Jerry, but generally just use it to make hard ciders. Works well together. Not a huge rum drinker.

If you can find it, rum from the Virgin Islands is usually spot on. I used to take trips there and come home with rum infused with fruit, but rather than just the flavor they'd stick an entire banana in their (or whatever fruit they had on hand.)

Mount Gay Dark for me. tumbler over ice w/ lime wedge and tonic is the drink of choice for Winter i do believe.
- damn that sounds really good though.mrdobolina
- You like to Mount Gays in teh Dark?
Then tumble over them with ice while you stick your lime in their wedge?flavorful - * Wedge.

I second the Sailor Jerry for a good cheap rum, I also usually get that because the label makes me laugh. I always forget how much I like the taste of rum when I am out at bars.
Ginger Ale & Rum is a good mix.
When it comes to labels and the like, I'm a drunk so I go for 'fuck you up quality' not necessarily 'taste quality.'
Banker's baby.

whoa, whoa, whoa- if we are talking an ale mixer, there is only 1 choice; the truest of true old sailing drinks- "Dark & Stormy"
- Goslings Black Rum
- Ginger Beer (pref this one: http://www.maineroot.com/product… )
- lime wedge squeezed out
- all over high-ball full of iceis a proper, wonderful cocktail. i might have 3 tonight, actually. :)
- Hahah, I can't drink liquor. Because I drink it like beer and have no idea how much I am drinking.flavorful
- I don't want to go down that path of blacking out on liquor by myself ... just yet.flavorful
- Or learning moderation.flavorful
- hahahah, I know what you mean.mrdobolina

Vernor's GInger Soda from Detroit is wicked too. I never made a mixer with it though.
- yeah, that stuff is WAY to sweet for me. you need a REALLY high ginger count in a proper ginger beer.madirish

A buddy of mine soaked vanilla beans, a cut up pineapple, and some stuff I am forgetting in rum for about a year. Very tasty on ice.
- from time to time I make entire bottles of makers mark mint julep, kinda similar infusion processmrdobolina
- does it come out the same as your classic s. syrup, fresh mint, makers' julip?madirish
- yeah actually, you can still do the silver cup if you like but generally we just do shots of it, delicious minty bourbon shots.mrdobolina
- longest I let one infuse was 2 months.mrdobolina
