Maybe it's just the time of year but there is no work out there at the moment.
Any advice for a junior/middleweight print designer? I've got nowt in the way of industry contacts and recruitment agencies are doing my head in!

Well if you are doing freelance or consulting jobs, I would of sent my book out prior to the first quarter as companies are now transfering over to their new budgets! Hurry hurry hurry =)

I'm looking for something permanent/full-time. I am taking on freelance to pay bills but I don't want to depend on it.

Yeah Dec/Jan is primetime to put resume/folio into circulation - alot of hiring in the next month or so
- Concrete0
Good to know, radar. I thought that was the case, I just haven't seen much work about.

I always just send my sample .pdf and CV around regardless whether the studio is currently hiring or not... if they like it they'll keep it on hand...
Of course, if you can get hooked up with Represent than I reckon it's just a matter of time...
- Thanks, snuggs. Do you mean Represent.uk.com ? They don't want to know unless you went to St MartinsConcrete
- I never went to St. Martins ;)neue75_bold
- but yes, they are somewhat 'exclusive'neue75_bold
- you're an international superstar designer of questionable morals though snuggles...kelpie
- * changes profile...neue75_bold
- I had similar experience with Represent - and they had the front to ask for the deatils of some of my own contacts.Wolfboy

I got a call back from a recruitment agent earlier regarding a job I applied for this morning - so things are looking!

we're hiring (it's supposed to be kinda hush hush - but its the holidays!..pssssh) (ill regret this when i get back!) :P
but its probably not your cuppa tea! - Digital Brand Consulting.
although it migh be worth your while coming to chat with the partners for contact's sake (they are all pretty big cheeses in the digital advertising scene (which probably = more contacts))

So I went to that interview a fortnight ago. The consultant said; "I love your work...I've got some positions in mind (for well known branding agencies) I'd like to put you forward for..."
Nothing! I've tried to chase him up but it's like he's avoiding me.Should I move on?
- neue75_bold0
I think you should move on, follow up once a week [maybe] but keep on truckin in the meantime... Just like with women, as soon as you stop looking for one, they tend to pop up...
nice holding page too... it's aboot time!

I take it the interview was for a recruitment consultant.
They're nobbers, wouldn't bother...
Yeah Noticed you had a site up – Nice, I commented on it before but under a different login - 'Note'
I take it you are looking in London? What type of work are you looking to do? What is your ideal agency?
Keep plugin' son.

you shouldn't be struggling for work concrete, from what i have seen you are better than a lot of the people out there with jobs.
- Thanks, skt.

- i sent that invoice at the weekend... did you not get it?skt

Thanks, D.
I'm looking for junior-middleweight print design/branding work.
I've got a long way to go before I would be considered at one of my favourite agencies.
