Dell UltraSharp 2007FP 20.1" vs. Apple 20"
Anyone use the Dell?
- jamble0
I've got a dell widescreen 21".
It's very sharp and excellent value. I'd recommend it.

Thanks ~ just read an interesting review. Basically the same monitor with different aesthetics.

the dell i have renders type, especially, really poorly and with pinkysh fringing around letter forms. I dont use it for design though and it runs on vista. it was one of those cheap all inclusive deals...
- that monitor has either:
a)not ever been claibrated
b)white point temp is messed from use and will never come backmadirish - Sounds more like a setup/video card issue. Run the display settings as high as the monitor will go.joyride
- or maybe its just a crap monitor all together! hahahahamenos
- is that clearType maybe?it uses a coloured dither to smooth letterforms.monNom

but that its the same as the apple one is good to know! that will come in very handy. What other similarly good screens are there, by the way? 23"+...

most of us are rocking 2 of the new Dell 20" here at the office
So much better looking than the old style that was in that article above. I have the old one at home and the only problem I had was a little light bleed in the corners, nothing that I really noticed unless the entire screen was black. I don't see that on these new ones.

i brought my 20" dell from my house to use at work because it's so good and cheap.

apropos of nothing really...... the apple 20" has only a few weeks left on the shelves.....new cinema displays are coming at macworld on the 18th of january....people are talking a suite of 24", 30", 34" but people talk alot.......

I have 2 Dell monitors and both have developed a dark corner, one has a slight blue cast despite having it color calibrated. I'm sticking to my cinema display.

i have a Dell 24" and love it... no dead pixels

my wife has a dell 27" AND Cinema 30" at her office. She said both still display perfectly [i think she's had them around 6 months].- and they should! i wouldn't expect anything less from those!menos

The Apple monitors haven't been upgraded much in the past 3 years, and the hot rumor, take with a grain of salt obviously, is that they'll release new ones at MacWorld in mid-Jan. Might be worth waiting a month to compare.

I just ordered one of these, and I'm totally psyched:

I'm almost doubling my screen size!!! (i work on a 12" powerbook)

I've been a Mac user for quite some time and will continue to refuse to purchase Apple monitors. I strongly advice to always go with another manufacturer, and here's why:
Old display technology.
Poor contrast ratio.
No built-in controls.
No aux inputs, DVI only.
Cost up to 2x the price of a superior-spec monitor from a competitor. You pay out the ass for form-over-function.
Bleh.

i found this information while i was doing research since i am looking into buying 23" Apple Cinema Display.

So what people saying about a Dell monitor and ACD using the same panel is not true. They may come from the same manufacturer but not the same panel type.
The Dell 2407 (24") uses S-PVA
ACD uses S-IPS
