What is the difficulty of creating an area on a site to upload podcasts, which can display in different categories & be archived? What would you charge to write/implement this?

That's not just uploading. That's also a whole backend system around it.

So to answer your question, between $1 and $1000000. Roughly.
- that narrows it downradar

Only downside is, you have to use wordpress too :P

thanks kalkal, that looks like it could actually work except there doesn't seem to be an archiving function, what is the default setting for archiving with wordpress - any idea?

I'm not sure how this particular version works, but most do a kinda hack workaround for archiving. I presume that each podcast is just a blog entry. If thats the case, podcasts will be automatically archived. You just have to put together a wordpress theme that doesn't look quite so much like a blog...

yeah, the more I think about it though - it wouldn't work. The client wants visitors to be able to upload their podcasts and choose the category it fits, then the admin could archive them.

I think you can just enable registration on the blog and allow permissions to post only podcasts... it's a kinda lame way of doing something like this though

It's hard without a specific brief but without the front-end, leaving just the back-end (managing mp3 files (upload, remove, rename, change category etc.) and user management) i'd say it could be done within 3 to 4 days so that would be between €1500 and €2000. Except if you are iwlyfel, in that case it would be something between €1 and €1000000.
