Hello good people of QBN.com,
I'm considering going back to school to get a formal education in web design. i stay in Los Angeles and i already have a B.F.A. in Graphic Design.
Any suggestions or advice from you successful web designers out there would be awesome~
So far, I have looked at UCLA Extension, (Certificate in Advanced Web and Interactive) and SMC's Academy of Entertainment & Technology.
Thanks..

honestly, i wouldn't go to school for web design. it is still so new that many unversities teach old archaic methods. you'd be better off taking some courses through o'reilly books.

I agree, you could go and do a html/css course and then go and do a couple of flash courses. Once you Start putting this stuff into practice the you will learn very quickly.

For Web Design, stick to short courses.
I work with a bunch of people who went to uni and did IT / Multimedia. I still can't believe how far behind they were... fresh out of Uni and using tables for web layouts!? I had to teach them CSS!
Also don't focus too much on straight up reading/studying. Get some contract work and use that to implement new things you've learnt. That's the fasted way to skill up.
- If I had taken my development courses at UNI I would still be using Director!helloperson

yea everyone has really great ideas. just start playing around with making your own web portfolio. you have a BFA in graphic design so it will translate into the good web layouts. start making mock ups in photoshop and start slicing and dicing!

if you already have a degree, for a non drastic career change, i would just go the book route too. much cheaper. if you can focus, you will learn faster too.
