Do you guys have any tips or advice for taking care (prolonging, lowering, avoiding) of student loans? Yup, it's that time, and I want to make sure I use all my alternatives before start paying.
Consolidating them has worked partly, but what else is there to do? Thanks

how many months/years are you out of school?
- OSFA0
just months... I might have 2 or 3 more months on my grace period...

take min class like one class to avoid it
- studderine0
thats sticky...i graduate soon as well. have you found employment yet?
- molo0
i say avoid them and use lots of working hard excuses and "it's first on my priorities" sorts of things etc
- molo0
i guess if you're talking about paying them back...otherwise get lots of loans and reep huge fortune

If you are graduating soon, and planning on consolidating, don't do it as soon as you graduate because you'll lose your grace period. My 2 cents studderine

well i consolidating all my loans a while ago i believe. you have fiscal responsibilities son! yea, my interest rate is like 2.85% .

I used my tax returns my first couple years working to just obliterate my college debts. You really want the shiny new mac but not having those payments anymore is worth all the macs in the world.
- OSFA0
2.85? fuck! how did you get it so freakin low?
not a bad idea morilla, but still want to prolong these payments as much as I can...

i consolidated my loans before the interest rate hike went effect.
- studderine0
went into effect. i just remember that a new law came up and changed the student loans.

I got a crazy idea, how about you deal with the debt that you've incurred instead of trying to skate around it.
- studderine0
skating is fun.

Not when you owe the man.
- studderine0
ha. yea, i know.
- monNom0
it's just gonna get bigger if you don't deal with it.
get on an automated payment plan as soon as you start working and you won't even notice the money is missing each cheque.

hey, don't get me wrong, I am paying for a few already and plan on payying in full, but there have to be ways to play around and defy the system brother...
