I'm over it, can we pass the games off to someone else?
Conference centre is 300mil over budget. Everyone is blabbing about how this is Canada's games, well it better be Canada's debt as well at the end of it.

Really? I know I'll be excited once it comes along.
Canada has been improving in the Winter Olympics each time, which is probably why people are more into this one.

You don't have to live in the construction zone that is Vancouver.

Who actually wants the Olympics in each country? I've yet to meet anyone who's in any way keen for London's 2012 - everyone seems to think it's a huge waste of money. I find it particularly galling being taxed extra (as Londoners are) and having national Lottery money being diverted to the capital so that construction companies, corporate sponsors and property owners in Dagenham can see their bottom line inflate.

I don't understand how cities can make enough money off of two weeks of olympics to pay for all of the new buildings and structures.

not to mention the prime event tickets that are virtually impossible for anyone in the general public to afford or even get access to.

(Nov 9 07, 10:29)"No shit, what's up with that. I still think that a certain percentage should have been discounted for Lower Mainland people who have been dealing with the bullshit construction for the past 2 years and the next 2 years. How about all the shops on Cambie street that have gone out of business because of the retarded Millennium Line that no one is going to use beyond 2010.
At the end of the day, what are we as citizens really going to get out these games?
- Jaline0
I like the Olympics...but judging by what you guys are saying, it's a good thing that I am near the other side of Vancouver. But still....I have always loved the games.
- Jaline0
By the way, BANTER, I agree about the ticket prices and the people living there. Should get a discount or something.
- BANTER0
The Olympics are great when it's not in your own backyard.
- Jaline0
I suppose I won't find out until that happens...

No doubt, go for it.
