"Excuse me mate, I don't know if you noticed but I've got my desk fan on in the middle of November, not because I'm too hot but because you smell like you need to be alone! Do my nasal cavity a favor, buy some Right Guard at lunch and whilst you at it some chewing gum too - your breath could make an onion cry!"
- Witt0
Mail him any job opportunities for National Park ranger.

Cut his ear off, then shout at the Ear, You need a fucking wash!
Good luck with that then.
- Concrete0
Or just buy him a Lynx Africa Gift Set and leave it on his desk when he's not there. On his return he'll see the subtle gift of cryptic wonderment, look around sheepishly - at which point you look up at him and say 'Your welcome'

Speak to the boss.
If he seems like a nice guy, maybe just tell him up front.
If I were in that situation, I would totally chicken out and never tell anyone for like weeks until it REALLY started to bother me. After which I would try to drop hints, and then finally tell the boss.

a more serious response ....
yes you can complain to the bosses and they can take action against him. this is something he could be fired over if he didnt do anything about his body odour.
i used to work in a supermarket when at art college and there was a guy there who had really bad B.O. after complaints from other staff he was told by bosses to do something about it or he'd have to go as it was putting other employees off their work.

i was in a similar situation. the company i was working for stuck 6 of us into a room at our own desks and one of the new hires was a very obese man who had b.o. and what seemed to be a problem wiping.
with 7 of us in the room now and our computers it would get hot so we got a fan to blow air into the room.
each morning we'd point the fan at him to blow the smell away from the rest of us. he, not catching on didn't like the air on him and would always turn the fan away.
it was horrible.
finally i went to the boss and complained. i just really made it a point to put it a nice way to the boss. i was like the 3rd person who complained.

is it his first day? he may have the rapesweat on purely for that reason, give it a few days and see if the funk calms down in the man.
would be cruel to humiliate him at such an early stage
