i've discovered a way to partition part of my spinal cord as an extra more reliable hard--drive. it's funny too. every time i stretch my neck i get an indesign file asking for font updates.

I will second the don't buy Lacie vote.
I had two. The first one died and the second one is almost dead and not even two years old.

I don't get why people don't like LaCie, I haven't had any isssue with my HD and it's been turned on for the last 3 years.
But maybe I've been lucky, I have heard about more problems with them than other brands?
I'm close to getting this for backing up music and photos:

I use RAID1 drives like this one : http://www.storagedepot.co.uk/En…
You can change the drives anytime : offers an unlimited storage space with the security of Mirroring: RAID1.

I have a Porsche LaCie. Untill now no problems, but I also heard they're not that good...

I"ve got 6 Maxtor externals, from .5 - 3 years old. Not a problem.
Now that Seagate owns them, they have a 5 yr warranty, which isgreat.
I'll be buying one of those Netgear/Infrant NAS (I want the 3tb models) very soon.

We've got the mybook 1Tb it's not that good. It uses ethernet to connect, and you're supposed to be able to access is via the internet, anywhere. Trouble is you can, but it's way too slow. Also comes with software for access which screws with all your settings. It's a good amount of disc space for the money. But don't believe the features - they're not what they say they are. They also try and catch you for some subscription services too. Shamefull.

ma friends... Lacie doesn't MAKE the hard drives... it makes the casings and what not. Have a look at yours...
