I know there have been threads before.. but I am wondering about finding work as a designer, and if not, finding work in general as an American that just moved there.
I love the Northwest and Portland and Seattle are on my radar so Id like to know more about the VAN.
Lots of musicians?
Vintage drum shops?
ETCETERA!

moving to canadian is not too hard
you would fall under NAFTA's worker category as Graphic Designer
Now, as a job, thats a tough one. There are few good shops
interactive, there is Blast and some small shops
Motion, there is Embassy who does kick ass stuff
print, there are ad shops like Taxi and pure design shops like Karacter
There are other ad agencies like DDB, Saatchi, TBWA, etc
also canadian only agencies but relatively comparable size with the multinational companies

coming from brooklyn, i might suggest you start with portland and if you like, work your way north.
things get progressively more laidback the further up the coast you travel.
