What is the basic guidelines and principle to claiming a new computer on your taxes? I'm in dire need of a new computer and I'm thinking about pulling out some student loans to get one of the best I can buy. To avoid being in crazy debt, how would I go about (if I can) get the government to pay me back for this?

if you use it for client work, you can deduct it. come tax time, you can either depreciate it over a few years, or all at once. might be a bit tricky on the taxes if you also have full time school related write off's as well, since the IRS can sorta assume that you don't use it all the time for client work.
