Witt in america taxes are as follows...
anything under $119,000.00 is to be taxed out at 28% - 33.3%
anything over that number is 40% taxes.

(Oct 19 07, 13:46)ditto that started happening to me too when i was 21 and i go to a house party now and again... the problem is the those young freshmen are still so hott, but then you realize they are 4-5 years younger... it makes depressed but it doesn't stop me from grinding with them on dance floor that is if they let me haha

Your work and skills are good enough to get well above average.
You will probably not make 50K or above right away. Many places will not understand your value (since a lot of it is in technology that is very, very new)
Some larger places will try to lowball and make a killing off of your skills.
You would do well to be a little humble your first year or two out of school even though you are probably in the top .5% of people fresh out of school.
However, 1-2 years out - double your rate and get the salary you deserve.
You do need to be road-tested as a worker and as someone who can be relied upon and who can hopefully work with clients.

oh man you're a liberal country and you're taxed as a half-soviet?
I don't get it.
something's wrong.

Getting a job is good. College was one of the best times of my life, but it's a total bubble - once you get out of it you will realize that half the shit you thought mattered a lot, doesn't at all;)

I need to couple of years to build up a body of work where the majority of my portfolio isn't student work.
bcline
(Oct 19 07, 12:02)dude, don't underestimate the power of student work. it may be some of the most creative you'll do. Sagmeister told me once that the work you do in the first couple of years is the work you'll be doing the rest of your life. I agree, and having a full time job can be a lot of work while you may only a expend a fraction of the creative effort you likely put into each student piece.
that said, if you want to do super dope stuff, on your own terms, freelancing aint a bad option.

Yeah, taxes blow. How is it in Portugal? I always figured Europe had higher taxes...

(Oct 19 07, 13:54)thanks for constructive response, i completely agree. god i hope i don't come off as someone who is a cocky designer ( eeek ), far from it, i hate the work that i do, i think i suck, but it just serves as motivation for me to work harder :)
