Not knowing much about the in-depth working of smart Objects in P-shop.

What were trying to achieve is have a series files that comprise of certain modules of a site(e.g. Navigation module, promo modules, Main image module, etc)

These modules then form part of a series of other pages we've mocked up for a site.

Ideally, what we'd like to happen is that if there is an amend on the navigation module, this will update all the other PSD's that we've imported this module in.

    Possible? Easy? RTFM? STFU?

It seems like it would work and be fairly easy to implement. You may have to include boxes with no fill or stroke to force the registration of the items from Illustrator to Photoshop, but nothing you couldn't figure out in minutes.

Not possible (in cs2, dunno in cs3).
Since the PS file is saved with all the smart objects stuffed in, so every smart object belongs to the file where it is in.

Anyway i'd like too having "classes" in photoshop. Next thing to ask for?

You can't link the 'modules' ala InDesign, but you could have a series of master documents in Illustrator that you could lift revised graphics from via cut and paste. A bit of a manual process, but it would work.

Its more what Fariska was saying. The idea of having file 'classes' of which instances are created throughout a series of files you are working on.
