So there's a press conference called today at 4PM to announce a date at the dome, the full line up with john bonham's son on drums.
I HAVE to get tickets for this. No doubt they'll cost hundreds and then touts will buy them all out and sell them for thousands but it's a once in a lifetime thing. I hope they play more than one date.
Anyone know a reliable source to find out asap how to get tickets? I've signed up to the official mailing list at ledzeppelin.com

oh bother...

As much as I like LZ, having seen a video from their gig some 8 years ago cured me from hopes they still could play. It was a saddening view.
However, did anybody go to one of the 22 Prince gigs in the O2 dome? I doubt his guitar skills could ever deteriorate like Plant's

I went to see prince (was my bday present from my gf) he was awesome, I never realised quite how talented he is. He's an amazing guitarist which I knew but his keyboard playing is great too, he never hits a bum notes, is always perfectly on pitch, tightest band I've ever seen, and he's got the moves too. Great show, really fun party atmosphere.
Also maceo parker plays sax in his band, which I didn't know about, so it's as close to a modern day james brown as you can get.

I mean...fuck..you won't find a bigger Zep fan than me..but ...but..just let it rest you know...it had so much integrity that they let it go when Bonzo died...I really respect Plant's career post Zeppelin as he's really pursued his muse..but this just reeks of raking in the bucks, you know. I mean I know it's not, probably a last chance to get the mates together and do what they do and all, but...but...i doubt it'll sound good...

true they are past their prims, but have you heard what jp jones has done since, he's the most amazing musician now.
Plus I wasn't even born in '80 when they finished so I'd like to see what they're like live, even if it's not the same.
So of their original live recordings are shockingly bad anyway, songs lasting hours and no one really with it, at least they'll all be sober and clean now.

i'd go if i could...just one of those things.....the 'i saw them' factor....
for most of our lives, we never had the chance...they'd called it quits...bonzo was dead.....
now all of a sudden, they get back together....hell...this is the shot a lot of zep fans have waited for...the chance to finally see them live....i'm personally not that big a fan...well..not enough to pay the kind of money they'll be asking for tickets anyhow...but i do like them quite a bit...so i can understand why some fans would be eager to see this show..
i know how i felt going to see Pink Floyd a few times back in the day....best two concerts i've ever seen in my life....even without Roger Waters...
- BaskerviIle0
I agree aboiut the 'I've seen them' factor.
I've been lucky enough to have seen james brown, nina simone, john lee hooker, etc before they died.
I still want to see stevie wonder live more than anyone else, not that he's close to death but he's just the best.

You gotta just ring where they tell you I guess. I managed to scrape 2 tickets for Tom Waits when he played Hammersmith in Nov 04 - his first time in the UK since 1987. I was on the phone hitting redial for about 1 hour 40 minutes until I got through. It sold out about 5 minutes later. The promoter said he could have done about 6 weeks solid with the amount of enquiries.
Now a Led Zep reunion. Do you think the 02 network might crash?

Page reportedly bought an occult shop (or a castle?) with an Alaistair Crowley satanic book collection. Prince went crazy the Jesus way.
Who wins?

I got dragged to that Page & Plant tour and I have to say it was great. Better than expected. But that was over ten years ago. Who knows how well they can still rock out.

(Sep 12 07, 03:56)"I dont particulary care about Plants guitar skills.. Page rules the roost guitar wise.. so.. meh!
I saw the black crowes and jimmy page when i was a wee kid, and saq page and plant and the old man can still rock the 6string.
the things is.. Zep were GREAT for their super raw, unpredicatble and even (dare i say) sexual energy.. now however its just them playing through a back catalogue.. as old men.. it doesnt have the
"fuck you.. im 24 and caked on drugs, playng the guitar like a violin, gonna shag you wife cause im rockstar" vibe.. which made it all the more rock n roll
still would be a good show

but it's a once in a lifetime thing...

I have those page/black crowes discs and they're great!
I wanted to see them together but they started canceling shows cause of "back problems"...think that meant drugs or couldn't get along with the robinson brothers or both or just an old man with a bad back.

(Sep 12 07, 12:54)Hahaha.. I sure wouldn't make that embarassing mistake had he not shown his "I'm so old and tired I can't follow my own solos everyone knows by heart anymore" onstage. They were killing their legend and I thought what a waste they didn't all die at 27 like most decent legends did.
Hopefully they've been practicing yoga like virtuoso Yehudi Menuhin and took young blood transfusions in Switzerland like the Stones reportedly have been and will bring some classy r'n'r at the dome!
