(Sep 7 07, 10:53)indeed, i been in ny for about a year and half, yet my life consists of take outs and work
and paying high rent.
but sadly, i am not a real designer so i cant really quit.

I don't think designers have it that bad..... ask anybody involved in customer service, SALES, service, marketing, bookkeeping etc...
90% of them hate it and feel depressed...

if you think about it, it's actually a good gig. But like any other job it has it's stressors.
I just think of friends that have jobs that I would rather eat a bullet than do. Sales, numbers, real estate bla bla bla.. boring shit.

Answering the original question, I technically did 4 years ago and I've never been happier.
I went on to start my own business a few years ago, after having been kicked around by the higher ups. My biz went better than I ever dreamed of - and I eventually sold it off.
I took a year off after that, and then I got back in the corporate world by doing a bit of real estate and my real passion - brokering high end cars.
Today, I just run an ad slash media agency "on the side" to be able to buy fuel for ze cars, but not so much involved in the actual design process.
It's good.
