So...questions for the Windows OS users. Has Vista caused any issues for you?
Also any HP users? I'm between an HP & a Shuttle.

no problems here with Vista in general. Only Run32dll.exe fails to run on startup :/

I'm a windows user and can assuredly relate that Vista has not caused me any problems thusfar.
The fact that I'm on XP and have no intention of upgrading may have something to do with it.

Witt,
What is Run32dll.exe? So no issues with your programs?
I see alot of "Windows Vista Certified" so was wondering if it was more marketing than reality.

I've been following Vista convo's on different boards and most people who have made the leap aren't experiencing many problems. Sounds like a lot of the problems most people gripe about are usually caused by user error, but that's not to say Vista isn't without bugs. It has it's problems but it seems nothing that should hamper your work.

run32dll.exe is the favourite target for trojan so i hear. maybe my firewall/av settings are blocking it somehow. haven't look into it coz i was in vacations when i got a new pc and was too lazy to solve this problem.
Vista blocks some old programs/drivers - mostly external peripherals. a 'certified' label may save you a few headaches.
i was reluctant with vista too, Nairn, but driver management, folder navigation and overall usability is improved in Vista. As to performance - I notice no difference, except when you look at your hd it seems tidier.

So what kind of PCs do you all have? Dell? Something else? Do you like them? I'm about to shell out approx 2-3k on a new system. Not sure what to get.

The system you get depends a lot on what you are planning on doing with it.
Vista is resources hog so more RAM=better, luckily RAM is cheap now, in my experience the biggest difference you can notice is spending money on a good graphics card.
Personally I would go for something from a smaller company like http://www.falcon-nw.com/
If you are looking at a shuttle, their "frag box" is a really nice system based on the shuttle. Yeah yeah, it is a gaming box, but it is also quite good for video and design.
just my thoughts.

If you feel adventurous, build your own machine. It's not that hard and you'll learn alot.

XP is great.

Thx for advice...Falcon looks good but likely a bit beyond my budget.
