A few years back a metallic printing process was launched. Using CMYK you get a metallic effect... or something like that. Anyone know what it was called.
It kind of gave a holographic effect.
Anyone know. Cheers for the help.

when you mention holographic, that brings to mind lenticular printing. But I cant think of a specific CMYK press usage that yields metallic colors.
What's your need? Are you looking for the best metallic processes or what?

I remember this, it was used on a computer arts cover a couple of years ago. Can't remember the name of the process though. Been on the CA site to see if I could find it but no joy.
I remember something to do with alpha channels or something...

It was a new system and they had ads for it in CR and Grafik. The main selling point was that you could print CMYK on top of this special ink and you could yield any colour in Metalic.
If you've seen the special 40th aniversary of Rolling Stone they used it on the cover.
When you look at it in the light you get a rainbow / holographic look.
Cheers,
Ian
