(Aug 21 07, 08:32)I've secretly installed Netnanny on her machine. And of course, all this ghey secks talk automatically red flags NT. It's a win win - the dirtier the talk, the lesser the chance of her lurking!

LOL!!!!!
Haaahahahahahahahahaha!!!!
Dude, you are the man of the day....

Thanks for all the kind words everyone, but I only did what any of you would do for me, no big deal at all. :)
And there are WAY too many promises and email correspondence between Mike and this agency for them to just drop it and claim they're still interviewing. Not sure how much detail Mike wants to go into here about this, so I'll let him fill in the rest.
But it's far from over..

I can't be bothered reading all the posts jox - can you summarize pls!
How did he get a visa to work in Europe without the company sponsoring him?

(Aug 21 07, 08:47)I think with our last name, we are immune to manhood bruises...

Nic, something to do with a temporary work visa. I have no experience with it personally but it involves Sweden, Denmark and Norway. Basically you come to try out a job for 6 months (standard for any job here, even for Swedes) and then -provided that you've done a great job- the company renews it with you turning it into a regular visa.
Supposedly not too hard to aquire if an agency can back up your story - which, in this case, they did.
Which is why they will go down...
Mike still suffered from jetlag but I'm sure he'll come on here and explain some more when the alarm goes off ;)

"I was pretty much promised this position"
It's been a while but in the US I believe you sign an official agreement for your employment when you are officiallly accepted.

(Aug 21 07, 09:16)totally, unquestionably, 1000% depends on the situation and company. there is no 'standard' for this in any way.

They did indeed sign the temp visa papers, however this Mats, who signed them, was not authorized to do so, according to the agency management. My employment contract does not exist in written form. In my narrow-minded world I like to think the best of people and that they are truthful when all signs point to yes. This time, I was royally screwed over and now I'm paying for it.
Joakim introduced me to his attorney (that I can't even pay for), and we are working on a solution together for my apartment. Crazy that it had to take this route, when all I want is a job and be able to enjoy life with a change of scenery some place new.
Moving on to better things, I have an interview the day after tomorrow :-)

crazy story! I think you owe it to yourself to try and make a go of it even if this job falls through. You should be able to at least line up some freelance with a little hussle. But seriously this adventure will change your life and five years from now when you're about to be married to some swedish girl you're totally crazy for, you'll be super thankful you stuck it out.
just my 2 cents.
