(Aug 15 07, 15:57)yeah, whenever you have an index.html page in a directory you don't need to specify a file name, it defaults to index.html
- GT_10
elahon, and you're actually trying to offer web design as a PROFESSIONAL (taking people's money)?????
lol, get off the web.
- jevad0
God that website sucks.
What ^ said - just make sure there is an index.htm or .html file in whatever directory you want...
- elahon0
GT, fuck off. You fucking people, man. It's either elite or shit.
rafalski, that's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.

Yeah have a look at gt1's history, nothing but a whiny bitch. Just one complaint after another, never any help offered or any constructive contribution.

I suggest ignoring him and then he can get back to his regular routine of douche drinking.

i highly doubt that is using an .htm or .html file
it's most likely php/mysql
similar to the menu we built here
http://pachamamas.com/menu/dinne…there is no menu or dinner directory, the entire menu runs off one .php file

gt1 is a bitch.
but your work isn't great.
then again, i don't think you're trying to pass yourself as the man, so it doesn't matter.

(Aug 15 07, 16:49)it's not either elite or shit but I have to agree with GT, and I've asked many questions here myself.
this is like step 1 when it come to web design, so maybe you need to learn before you start offering your services.
just like on your site no section is working but you didnt forget to credit yourself for designing your own website and taking the pictures.. your name 3 times on the page and nothing else to see.
just saying it's good to learn first.

I bet most people in this thread, myself included, wouldn't know how to go about mod_rewrite without (re)learning it if put in front of a computer. I guess some didn't even notice it is not a simple case of going to default (index) file in a folder.
heavyt, you're not implying elahon didn't "present his question with humility", are you? ;)
- elahon0
fortified, good point. Advice taken.
version6, precisely. I'll delve a little deeper into the PHP and see what I can do. My goal is to have my URL's end clean, without .html, .php, etc. From this: (h**p://www.capturedimageofmaine... to this: (http://www.capturedimageofmaine...
spl33nidoru, not sure what you mean. My site works just fine on my end. Thanks for the thoughts, though.
- elahon0
Oops, that was supposed to be (h**p://www.captured imageofmaine.com/gal lery/)

this is a design message board, people post questions and hopefully others can help answer them. Yes that is a very noob question, but fuck it, everyone has to learn somewhere and posting up a short question is usually the quickest way to get a short answer.
nothing wrong with asking questions, but there is something wrong with getting all uppity just because he's a rookie. The elitism of the full time NTers really does diminish the quality of this site.
- spl33nidoru0
yep my bad, shitty connection here.
- heavyt0
the mod_rewrite is your answer.
frameworks like rails and django do this auto-magically, so that is why you may be seeing it a lot more often.
i concur, everyone has to learn. none of us knew everything straight from the womb. I think if you present your question with some humilty, you should get some slack. If you come in like a know-it-all, and then ask a noob question - you deserve a trashing.
dont be afraid of asking this stuff, it is only going to make you better in the long run.
- material-10
did anyone look at the source. look to be just directory level links. maybe I'm wrong. No need to jump on anyone though.
- rafalski0
try clicking on the calendar material

don't mind me, I don't know any php.
