hate to say it but you're fucked if your a designer in those areas. Buy a tractor and call it done.

hmmmm (strokes chin hair while considering business card design of new meth lab venture...)

I'm sure any small amount of creativity will push you above the fold

Yep, I agree with material. It is smack dab in the middle of nowhere. You will be surrounded by farms, foothills and a freeway.
I had a buddy from there in college. Real cool dude, but the town sucked ass. The only way to make a living out there in web, graphic design or our field - freelance, work from home for a larger agency or become a business owner selling your own designer goods, artwork, or otherwise.

Update: I'm in the middle of our third week here, today is first day at the new job. I landed a graphic design position in the University's Communication office, so far, so good!

Turlock?
Sounds like you need a trial seperation where you live in Palo Alto, and she visits on weekends.

turlock is populated mainly by assyrians and caldians and other mudraces.

good to hear. wait, you said at the University?
Can you film someone getting taz0red?

Look for work up the 99 in Stockton or Sacto, but I guess if you drive that far you could come in to the Bay Area.
Crazy car thefts along the 99 corridor too. If you have a nice car, garage it and get a kill-switch installed.
On the plus side you are close to the Sierra for the snow and scenery, there is bomb-ass Mexican food all over out there, and you are not far from San Francisco.

yep, my wife is Persian...

Same deal in Modesto, just a little closer to the Bay Area there.
I forgot to mention the waterslides in Manteca, used to go out there all the time as a kid.

um not exactly the most exciting area for graphic design. You have a few places to choose from. Bakersfield or Fresno pretty much, neither are terribly desirable.
Paso Robles is cool, but the central valley is HUGE, and I dont really know where Turlock is, so that may be way too far to live.
- Arvizu0
thanks! I was afraid there would be nothing but...bad...news. Um, crap.
I do love the mexican food! What about Modesto, probably the same story, right?

agreed with the mad man, start a meth lab

turlock is awesome.....
.... for drinking cheap beer and shooting pheasants. otherwise, pretty short on adventure... unless you like crank.
