for cross page matchups (when you're creating a perfect bound book with a courtesy score on the cover) do you allow for the part hidden in the spine by adding extra (from the other page) to each side of the image? If so, how much? 1/8 inch?

i just did a brochure like that.
it took some trial and error in mockups but basically from the trimmed edge in to the score, i measured that and added to the image on the opposite page of the signature.. it that makes sense

exactly! thanks seff
how much repeat did you allow for?
this is a 4x6 book with about 44 internal pages. the courtesy score on the cover is .25" from the edge, but I figure people would pull it open beyond that ... do you think 1/8 or 3/16 would be a good amount?

(I'm afraid to do the full 1/4 inch because you might see some of the repeat if you open the book wide open)

is there really a chink in the Rand armour?

i allowed 3/4" in from the trimmed edge, bacause that's where the score would be, but mine is a little different cause instead of perfect binding i am using a metal clasp and drilling a couple holes with in the 3/4" area.
but to your question, id use exactly the width area before the score. but with the amount of pages you have, you might ask prepress about inside creep if the images have to match up perfectly from spread to spread

thanks again, seff
