i know of 3 apartment spaces on my street that are for rent...2 of them are rent stabilized apts $1600 large 2bedroom...astoria queens...
- digdre0
is that 1600 a month?
- rson0
I am looking ... how much are you looking to spend?
- e-pill0
yes $1600 per month...cheap!!
- digdre0
damn, how much a month you have to earn to live there?!
When it's 1600 alone for the studio, and calculte an extra 1000 to live there each month..
that would be around 2600 / month salary.. where you earn that much over there? or is that a normall salary there?
- e-pill0
well..not every apartment is that cheap or that expensive...depends how you look at it..
lots ogf people also dont live alone and some do...
if you are taking a $1600 apt alone a salarty of no less than $5k a month is needed.
also the apt for the 1600 is large...not many of those around for that price...
also its rent stabilized...meaning the rent can only increase per year 3% at its max with an occupant re-newing a lease while with no occupant in the lease the max is 20%..
a non stabilized apt owner can charge what ever they like and in nyc they usually do...

damn eddie, 1600 in nyc is actually not that bad...
- digdre0
Hey,
Thanks for quick respons :)
Do graphic designers earn mostly more as 5k / month?I'm Graphic arts student, and after I finish school I might want to move to NY, I don't need a big apartment, just kitchen, bedroom, badroom, chillroom(tv) would be cool. I don't need to have one in the most expensive area (probably around 5th ave / central park ? ) The cheaper areas would be cool :D
Just the fact to live in NYC alone would be AWESOME for me, since I am dreaming of that since.. ever?i :D

digre-
the areas you are discussing is manhattan where rent starts at...well much higher than $1600 and those are studios, no closets, no kitchens, no windows....

I second eddie. Come to NYC!
The whole cost of living thing really isn't that big of a deal when you figure that you won't have a car, car expenses, like gas insurance and such.
- senseg0
i think its very good price 1600, i heard some of my friends are paying like 5k for apt in manhattan...
- MrD0
isnt this about Studio work space?
- OSFA0
what part of town do you live in eddie?
- e-pill0
ahh, mrdrummond it is work space...
- OeufOeuf0
I'll share a space with you....
If you're a hot chick.
j/k
but you might even want to consider living in the Derrty Jerz.
It's not that bad. I was born and raised in bklyn, but now live in Jersey and still won't admit that I live there. It's great!
- digdre0
e-pill, are you serious 'come to NYC'
or was it newstoday sarcasm :pWell, I really don't need a car there.. imo you are much faster with bike in the city. no?
I really would love to actually share some thoughts etc.. (no sarcasm etc..)

Guys, I meant Studio (OFFICE) space for work. NOT live in. Is anyone here looking to share WORK studio space in NYC ???
- Douglas0
I might be, but I think this Fall is when I was going to consider it more so. Chinatown seems like the place to look.

Douglas, I just sent you an email regarding this.
