I like Toshiba. Specifically Satellite.

I would look at a Clevo 570MU. Things can be a BEAST.

if you are looking at performance for the money, try dell. but if money isn't an issue, check out the beasts at Falcon Northwest or Alienware. Clevo sounds good as that is what is probably under the hoods of many other brands like the aforementioned Alienware.

I've had bad experiences with sony.

My VAIO's getting on a bit now, but (*touch wood*) I've never had any problems with it and it's been a superstar performer.
What you get is more expensive than comparable models from other companies and you have to spend a wee while de-shitSoftwaring it, but otherwise it's good. Two friends of mine have VAIOs and love them.

I have a 17" Sony AR. It's really nice. Beautiful display.

Go with a dell, and be sure to buy the 3 years warranty.
Very reliable, even if your graphic card, your DVD or your display (that is what happened to me) dies: in 48 hours you'll get the PC sorted out at your place.

Aren't Dells ugly as sin, though?
That was my primary reason for going with a VAIO - its prettiness.

I support the vaio's.

Nairn, no.

Fair enough - I've only seen a couple and that was a long time ago. Like bricks, they were. Ugly bricks.

If you're outputing video the Sony AR has HDMI, VGA Component. It has a tv tuner and RF coax inputs as well.
