a few years ago found some pdf online where you can print out and it had a grid where you could draw in letters. Want to experiment with some ideas and able to scan and edit in illy. Tried google and nothing comes up.

I would like to check my e-mail too please. :)
Funny, while doing my usual Saturday morning routine of going to Borders for coffee and grabbing all the mags I don't want to pay for like Computer Arts, CA Projects, Grafik, etc. I started sketching some font ideas and might like to learn how to fully develop one.

i too am working on a typeface. a trendy, boxy grid–like one. i started out on grid paper and have transferred the majority of glyphs to fontlab.
to sum up my blathering, would you kindly send the aforementioned file to me if ya got the time.
thanks!

Just use one of those books kids use to learn how to write.
Or a square-ruled book usually used by kids for math.
