Is the product placement obvious, though? I mean, do they only have GMC vehicles (no VW for bumblebee, etc)? Or, are non-GMC vehicles unbranded?
I think that would piss me off a bit, I hate in-media advertising - even if it's just a lingering shot of a coke can, the brand splayed across the camera for a few seconds - it snaps me right out of the fantasy and gets me reaching fro my cynicism hat.

Sometimes a coke can is just a coke can. The problem is everything is made by some company or another. Take the cars away, the food, the beverages, the electronics, the clothes and what do you have? A porn.

...beside the poorly designed CGI effects...
Linnenbaum
(Jul 4 07, 23:05)Can you expound on that Linnebaum? What didn't you like about them?

i don't know, product placement can sometimes be a distraction:
GMC Optimus Prime: "We're going to save the earth... right after we check out ebay, talk on our nokia phones for a minute and drink these mountain dews..."
i'm just saying! ;)

ummmm Transformers started as merchandise, so in essence all your nostalgia is just one long commercial.
- orkman0
Agreed, some of the product placement was distracting.

wow... just... wow.

------not a bad idea.

It was to obvious that kid is from the Disney channel. I don't care how cheesy the original show was, the movie was straight garbage. The blatant advertising was justification enough to dislike it.

- Jaline0
awww, come on guys.
Have fun with this film!
- Ramanisky20
Jaline ... it was ok...
maybe I should'nt have posted it in the Transformers SUCKS thread but ... its as if Michael Bay has a template for every movie he makes .... the drawn out speeches with the slow mo.... and the score of the movie is the same one from Armageddon ...
overall I give a 6.5 out 10

correct me if i'm wrong, but the original series i watched and toys i played with were brandless vehicles. again, i could be wrong

get over it......the movie was cool and fun to watch. I could have gone without the sapppy parts. Otherwise, cool sh*t!!
:D
autobots fall back! That was my favorite line! followed by 'can i ride you home!' haha :)
also the dinobots would have ripped sh*t up on the decipticons! part 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 better be as cool!
- defanddumm0
a sequel would be cool if they took it to cybertron....

(Jul 5 07, 08:34)yeah, I reckon the product placement of the big transforming robots from Hasbro is probably pretty obvious.
"Sell More Transforming Robot Toys"
what a pitch for a movie ;)

even the toilets in the movie have giant whirlpool logos on em.
