I'm looking for a hosting company in the UK for a client of mine.
Anyone knows reliable, reasonably priced people ?
A basic package should be allright to start with, it should just be SQL database compatible
thanks

the internet is world wide last i checked
*checks again...
yep, worldwide.
is there a reason you want UK hosting?

We're in UK and have never seen a UK hosting deal that makes sense, at least for anything with high traffic. They just can't match the US rates on data transfer.
Ideally you should rarely have to call tech support, but even if you do, the money you save hosting in the US far outweighs the cost of the occasional international call. Seems like it would only make sense to host in UK if it was tied in to other services?

thanks for the reactions,
the reason i need it in the UK is that the domain is in .co.uk , and my normal provider doesnt offer that from France. But yea any company in the world that offers .co.uk domains is fine with me ...
keep them coming pls

You can host using any domain anywhere, as long as you can tell the domain registrar to point the domain at the nameservers of the web hosting company.
Are you keeping the name registered seperately or wanting domain registration and hosting with one company (not usually a good idea)
What's your traffic? Where's it from?
We use The Planet (formerly EV1 Servers). One of the cheapest once your traffic is fairly high/if you are on a dedicated server... but I wouldn't know about what is best for lower traffic levels or shared hosting.. There's Always the entry-level big hosting companies like fasthosts.co.uk or 1&1.co.uk
We get just our email service (hosted Exchange Server) from Fasthosts and they seem OK

I've been using and recommending http://www.34sp.com for about 5 years now - they've got a good range of packages and their support is great.
Company is based in Manchester and their datacentre is in London.
