Hey guys, anyone know of a website or tool that lets you see traffic to public sites? My boss seems to think I can enter a URL and it will allow me to see how much traffic a public site is doing?
I always thought you need log files to know that?
Thanks so much in advance!

if you can afford it, omniture's amazing

Alexa is ok, but you won't find anything totally accurate as it uses data from users who have installed the alexa toolbar. It is however good enough for general rankings.
I find my site often has high traffic days or low traffic days that are not consistent with alexa.

google analytics is fwee, there's mint for 20-30 bucks and reinvigorate for free as well
what does omniture offer that makes me want to pay?

(Jun 13 07, 12:22)Welcome to the discussion. We're talking about stats on sites other than your own. Would you like to rephrase your question or keep looking like a nonce? ^___^

we also use google analytics which i love. for the last 2 e-commerce companies i've worked for they had both and there were a lot of features in omniture that we found very useful. for the price, google analytics is better of course but if you have deep pockets, omniture's a handy tool to add to your arsenal.
it's a bitch to implement though

Works with a toolbar, like Alexa. So it's not 100% accurate but it's fairly useful.

if they offer data on sites you don't control they are just doing statistics and will have a margin of error
