It really depends on the motivation level of the individual. For me, I have been working remotely from home for the past 2 years...600 miles from the main office. I wouldn't go back to a cubicle unless I was forced. My clients and my co-workers have no problem reaching me. Yea, a few times when not feeling well I have taken a snooze, but in a regular office setup, I would have just called in sick and lost the whole day. Bottom line, If you can keep focused, and undistracted, its the best of both worlds. Just keep the TV and Playstation out of the home office. Truth be told, several years ago I would have most likely abused the freedom...its all about how much you enjoy and respect your job.
