i have to create a letterhead template that can be edited in ms word and also be printed/mailed out. i usually make a wmf file, then place it to word documents header or footer, but then it will appear light gray. no problem with printing, because it prints the original colours, but on screen its still light gray... so how is it possible to make a editable and correct-looking ms word template?

i think it is an interface thing to be honest. greyed out means it is inactive or unditable at that point? imho it seems word is so much more tailored for printed documents then digital distribution.
maybe you should check the preferences?

(May 16 07, 03:17)i hoped there's an easy solution for this. i dont usually use ms word, so i'm not very skillful. but i will check the prefs more carefully

i think it's just like that, no change on screen. but i am not sure. have you tried different file formats?
also, try exporting to pdf to see if it persists in there as well, then you'd know it is prolly not just Word.

Went to see MC Word Doc and the Excel Entourage. They were quite good not like that PowerPoint Posse.
Those guys suck.
