Hi
I'm going to Paris for a couple of days with the missis, and I'm looking for some advice on where to stay, where to eat ... anything really... We've never been there so any input would be great!

for us its all about the topless beaches in the south of france, the cafes, the food, the art, and the sex!!!!
paris is probably an after thought, which will be done after.
make sure you have great walking sneakers, paris is a mega huge city so lot of walking.
see you there!!

i used to stay at the etoile maillot, but it's been a while. it was the perfect balance of nice amenities, decent price, quaintness and it's an excellent location right off the champs elysees close to the arc de triomphe

stay away from touristy sites if possible and just hang out at cafes and walk the streets.
for interesting night life, hit the "latin quarter"

hi
my gf and i just visited paris a few weeks ago. i recommend staying in montmarte. the area is full of boutiques, cafes and gallerys + sacre coeur is in the area. its a beautiful catherdral at the top of the hill with a view of the entire city. if you get the chance also take a afternoon trip to versailles. the train to get there is a short ride, its pretty easy to find, and inexpensive. that was one of my favorite places! also, the subway maps are very helpfull because they point out all the typical tourist locations that you would probably want to see while visiting paris.

That is a very nice and cheap hotel we stayed at, a block from La Chapelle Metro station (known from "Amelie") and 10 minutes walk from Montmartre:

The crew are supernice, the area around might seem a tad dodgy at first, but did not turn out to be unsafe at all.

i traded in all my mileage points and earned up enough to pay for 2 weeks of 5-star hotels and airfare.
