I'll ignore your last post gucci and follow the instructions of the ever reliable Mr Baskerville.
I tip my hat to you both chaps :D

if you do what I said then you will keep all the colours but it will stay as vectors (you have to make sure the slider is at 100% vector).
you lose the mesh but the object path is still there.

wait... if you're trying to take it back to its original shape (ie: lose the gradient mesh) you're fucked. you need the original shape in tact, I believe.

Object>Flatten Transparency and then slide the Raster/Vector balance slider all the way to the right so it is at 100, voila!

thankyou thankyou thankyou I will try both. I think flatten transparency might rasterize it, but I'll give em a shot :)

it's either expand appearance or flatten transparency.... can't remember which at the moment as I don't have illy on this machine.

come on folks, I know I'm a mouthy and occasionally cruel bastard, but I'm trying, I'm trying to give something back to NT, I'm trying to be good and all I wish for in return is the ability to release gradient mesh status.
help me oh god help me

hi.
I'm thick, please remind me how to release a gradient mesh on an object in Illy CS2.
my gratitude is yours.
