(Apr 30 07, 06:49)Fuck Off.
- poomoo0
thats a bit harsh.

haha.
portland is a lovely city with a lot going for it. i spent my seven undergraduate years there, on and off.
great music, great food, great nightlife... the victim of some of the most intense gentrification in the u.s., but some people like that.
loads fewer hippies than there used to be, but there are probably still a few around.
the job market was dismal a few years ago, but i reckon it's picking up again. it's been so long since i was there i wouldn't dare recommend a particular studio.
second storey were considered the best when i lived there... hopefully i haven't just totally dated myself...
there's also always wk, but they're out in the burbs...

I miss Portland. It's a great, if sleepy city. The art, cuisine and music scenes are authentic. Can't really speak for design (except that PLAZM originated there). But don't go there thinking you'll find a good tourist city. It takes some discovering...
Moo, are you planning a visit or a move?
- poomoo0
intwesting.
para, are you still in london?
amp, im looking at the possibility of moving there. im only moving if there are a good few decent web shops.
- paraselene0
yup, still in london. now and for the indefinite long-term.
i'll see if i can put my ear to the railroad track and get any info on studios for you.

i always think of Drugstore Cowboy but i'm guessing it's not as grim as that.
And more recently, Fugitives and Refugees (Chuck Palahniuk)

(Apr 30 07, 08:57)I was thinking of heading out to Hood River in a couple weekends. I was at Mt. Hood on Friday and almost took the Hood River route home, but ran out of time. Can you recommend any must-sees? Has to be kid-friendly as my 4 yr old son will be in tow.

What's the design scene like?
I just go back from my first trip there last week and loved it. My wife and I are now giving serious thought to moving there by year's end...

i can put that into perspective ... for a general design position you have 15 year art directors applying. so yes it is an ouch. i am currently freelance based, so I only have few clients here in town. i also have a few friends that are in agencies. W&K are here, Nike is here, Adidas is here, and some other notable mentions. craigslist is the best to check out the pdx market. here is a link ...
