dual core, quad core, eight core.. 2 processor dual core, 2 processor quad core. I understand they are releasing faster and faster machines, but who do these ultra fast machines tend to? Am I going to be wishing I got the eight core if I get the dual core.. how big of a difference is it ?

They tend to 3D animators and video/composting people. 8 core machines render very, very fast. Well worth it if you work in that environment...as for Photoshop or InDesign...my vote is 8 core not necessary at this point.
Bulk up on RAM.

thats perty much what I wanted to confirm..
hate the feeling of spending 3gs on equipment and then u find out they release something twice as fast in 3 months.

Ya, if you aren't running a render farm under your desk, don't worry about the 8 core. I very much doubt the software your average designer uses actually COULD utilize the power available.

unless you are doing heavy heavy stuff, bumping up from a quad core to a 8 core is pretty stupid.
It is and extra 1500 bucks to just get the 8 core
